The Arena Expands!

52

The Arena is freshly painted and new lights installed!  We are just waiting for the rubber flooring to be put down before we move in the equipment.  This new room adds an extra 800 sq ft and will provide a safer, more efficient space for powerlifting, olympic lifting, and crossfit training.

Our plan is to wait until the room is finished and weights moved in before we install mirrors or purchase any new equipment.  We want to see how the room is used and get feedback from you all.  Email any questions or comments to us at info@oldgym.datachievereview.xyz.

We’ll keep you posted on any updates and announce the official opening day once the Arena is complete!

Former Colosseum Trainer Crowned Worlds Strongest Man

Over the weekend, former Colosseum trainer, Mike Jenkins, defeated all of the world’s greatest strongmen in The Arnold Strongman Classic and claimed the title of the worlds strongest man!
Among his competitors were Derek poundstone (USA) and Zydrunas Savickas (Lithuania), two of the biggest names in the sport.
Congrats to Mike for this tremendous accomplishment!  We are proud of you and thanks for allowing us to say that the world’s strongest man trained at the Colosseum!

Semi-Pro football team joins the Colosseum

48

The Arbutus Big Red semi-pro football team has joined our membership ranks!  We have our front desk salesman and trainer, Mike Greengold, to thank for the bump in membership.  He is a defensive lineman for the Big Red and helped arrange memberships for his team.

The Big Red will only be in for team workouts Wednesday night at 730 and Sundays at 3.  Its a big group so parking will be more difficult than usual during these times, however the players have already started setting up carpools.

Vic’s Kettlebell Class: Part II

22

Folks,

Starting Wednesday 3/28/12, I will be starting a new evening KB class that will last 6 weeks.  This will be beginner class with emphasis on proper movement patterns, correctional exercises and of course, KB conditioning.
My goal is to have a group of individuals who will train together at least one day per week; not just in the use of KB’s, but in the full aspect of functional training and design.  This will include assessment, program design, and of course, a group KB class.  You will be responsible for completing “homework” each week prior to the next class.  Homework will be posted in the KB area each week, simply said, you have another workout to complete for the week.
The beginners class will start Wednesday 3/28/12 at 7PM and every Wednesday for the next 6 weeks (6 week program total).  Class will last approximately 75 minutes.  Total cost of the program will be $120.00
Please email vselvaggi@gmail.com if you are interested in joining.
Thank you.
